Getting in the Halloween spirit can mean a lot of things for different people. For some it’s dressing up and throwing an over the top party. For others, it’s trick or treating around a neighborhood with small kids. There are also those of us who enjoy sitting on the porch and leisurely handing out candy.
However you choose to celebrate, Halloween can be fun for everyone. Add a few themed treats and drinks and you have yourself a party, no matter if 2 or 20 people are attending.

A few of my favorite treats to enjoy while handing out candy, other than sneaking pieces for myself.
- Warm apple cider. Try this spiked cider version or just a simple cup of cider with a cinnamon stick for flavor.
- Mulled wine. Another fall favorite and a drink that will warm you to your toes.
- Festive cookies are a yummy treat to enjoy or even hand out to guests or trick or treaters.
- Snack mix like Chex Mix or something along those lines that you and your company can snack on throughout the evening.
Now you can add this delicious green drink to your Halloween rotation. There is a lesson in color mixing here so pay attention.
How to mix a green drink
There are many ways to make a green drink. The easiest method is to use a green liquor or mixer to add color. The grasshopper is a classic example of this. Just using cream de menthe with it’s rich green coloring will give your cocktail a lovely green hue.

You could also try a fruity green liquor like Midori to make a more tropical tasting green drink. Or you can blend colors to achieve this effect. If you remember back to elementary school you’ll know that blue and yellow make green. So grab some liquor and alcohol in those colors and get mixing!
This Halloween cocktail calls for blue curacao and pineapple juice to create the color. Then vodka for an added kick. You can adjust the intensity of the green by changing up the ratio of ingredients. I find that half an ounce of blue with 4 ounces of yellow is ideal.
