A Mule is hands down one of my favorite drinks. It combines spicy ginger beer with a hint of lime mixed with vodka. This cocktail dates back to the 1940’s and has an interesting origin story.
If you are not a fan of overly sweet cocktails then this is something you need to try. Ginger beer is the main ingredient here and this can be purchased in a wide variety of styles and flavors. I prefer a spicy ginger beer like Barritt’s, a bold spicy beverage straight from Bermuda. Head to the liquor store and try a few different varieties to find your favorite.
For this particular cocktail I found a ginger beer with a lighter taste that paired beautifully with fresh apple cider. These 2 ingredients combine to make a delicious fall drink.

Once you have a favorite ginger beer picked out, grab a jug of fresh apple cider. This is abundent this time of year, even better if you can buy one straight from a farm stand. Shake it well before using and enjoy the rich sweet taste of fresh cider.
Finally you will need a few limes and apples and a bottle of your go-to vodka. Always keep a bottle of vodka on hand, you can make a wealth of simple cocktails from just a few easy to find ingredients.

It’s always fun to serve a Moscow mule in a copper mug, it’s not necessary, but it adds to the enjoyment of the drink. Originally when this drink was created it was served in a copper mug and so the tradition stands. I love this set of mugs, but use a rocks glass or whatever you have on hand to enjoy this fall apple cocktail.
